Dancing Zen

Definition: A moving meditation

DANCING ZEN was designed to provide a one of a kind, luxury getaway for business travelers who want to be near the beach but a short ride to the city. It’s for the couple who want time out and the artists who want to be inspired.

Melissa Stefano, Creative Visionary and Contessa Francesca, Interior Designer set out to create a space that transcends the standard container experience, focusing on how to inspire relaxation, playfulness, focus and creativity.

Stefano’s vision is to create a space to unblock artists, provide privacy and playfulness for entrepreneurs and intimacy for couples in love.

Whether you stay at Dancing Zen just because it is beautiful or because of the energy the space projects, know it is no mistake you landed here and we thank you for bringing your love into Dancing Zen.

Disabled Access

We wanted so much to provide an equal space for everyone. I can personally promise you wheelchair access to the deck is 100% possible because I have installed a ramp. Getting into the containers has a ridge and wheelchairs won’t make it in, just because of the size of the containers.

Melissa Stefano

A Creative Visionary, Melissa can see a finished work at the very beginning of the process. A professional choreographer for 20 years, Melissa is used to seeing the finished product in her mind before it has started.

Founder of the Cancer Confidence Movement and Author of Uncancering: Prepare to Love the Unlovable, Melissa became houseless after her partner left in 2018. Recovering from cancer treatment, Melissa was unable to work a conventional 9-5 job. Pushing 50 with little energy, Melissa had to find another way to exist in the world. Thanks to an inheritance from her Nonna and support from her Mum and Dad, she built Dancing Zen to have a space to create and rebuild.

Contessa Francesca

The label of Interior Designer doesn’t really capture Contessa in her truest sense. Contessa worked tirelessly to bring big picture artful design to a landscape which is short on space. Beautiful and functional are at the heart of the design and the lines, colours, fabrics and materials are largely due to her ability to see what the space needs.

This is the second project Melissa and Contessa have worked on together and they hope to play again with other unique spaces.
